Vaginal Breech Birth and Birth Center within a Hospital Birth Stories – Kristel Acevedo

Kristel Acevedo is a wife, mom, and writer living in Miami, FL. She shares stories about her family and faith at her personal blog, KristelAcevedo.com, and freelance writes for several online publications.

In today’s episode, Kristel shares the story of her son’s birth which took place at a birth center within a hospital and then her daughter’s birth which was a homebirth. Her daughter was born in a birthing tub and to everyone’s surprise came out bum first. Kristel’s midwife had felt that her daughter was head down the entire pregnancy but she did a last minute flip and Kristel had a vaginal breech birth.

You can connect with Kristel on InstagramTwitter or Facebook. I’m also really excited to follow along with her current pregnancy which is a surrogate journey. I definitely want Kristel to come back and share her pregnancy and birth as a surrogate as well when that baby makes an appearance.

Heads Up: The Disappearing Art of Vaginal Breech Delivery

After this episode went live, I was contacted by Dr. Elliot Berlin who created a documentary all about the disappearing art of vaginal breech delivery. The film discusses why vaginal breech deliveries are no longer being performed and why that is all thanks to one study from 2001 that has since been discredited. It’s basically the Business of Being Born of vaginal breech birth. It’s eye opening and I definitely recommend checking it out. You can get to the film by click on the preview below.
